Welcome

My name is Jade Bonney, I'm a Psychotherapist, Couples Counsellor and ADHD Un-Coach practicing in St Kilda, Frankston and Seaford, Melbourne and Online Across Australia.

Feeling Stuck, Burnt Out or Just Not Yourself?

Maybe life feels too much right now.
Maybe you're tired, overwhelmed, anxious or just not sure what’s wrong.
Maybe you’re navigating big changes: parenting, perimenopause, a shift in identity or direction.
Maybe your relationships are struggling or you're questioning your sexuality or identity.
Or maybe your ADHD brain is running the show and you’re exhausted trying to keep up.
You don’t need a diagnosis, a crisis or a plan to start. You just need a starting point.
I support adults, teens and couples through:
ADHD and other neurodivergence
Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
Relationship issues and disconnection
Burnout and stress
Parenting challenges
Life transitions and identity shifts
Perimenopause and hormonal changes

What Working With Me Is Like

You won't often hear "so how does that make you feel" (I've come up with more creative versions).
I’m the same person in the room as I am outside of it, curious, open and honest.

Jade Bonney: Psychotherapist - Couples Counsellor - ADHD Un-Coach

Picture
I’m a psychotherapist and counsellor with more than a decade of experience working with adults, teens and couples. Clients come to me when life feels noisy and chaotic, burnt out, disconnected, overwhelmed or stuck. Many are in the thick of parenting, perimenopause, relationship breakdown or major life transitions. Others are navigating the messy brilliance of a neurodivergent mind and are exhausted from trying to “hold it all together”.

My work is grounded in training, evidence and experience. I’m as confident using practical, science-informed tools as I am exploring emotions, meaning and deeper patterns. If you want clear, direct strategies you can apply straight away, I’ll provide them. If you work best in a more relational, intuitive or creative space, I can meet you there too.
My style is straightforward, flexible and honest. There’s no therapist persona here, I’m the same person in the room as I am in real life. Alongside talk-based psychotherapy, I integrate body-based awareness, creativity and emotion-focused approaches, because real change doesn’t happen in your head alone.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I built a first career in the corporate and design world, working in project management and cultural change within a design agency. That “big, colourful life” and front-line experience of complex workplaces inform how I understand stress, burnout, identity and relationships.

At the heart of my practice is a clear aim:
to help people feel more empowered, more emotionally regulated, and more deeply connected to themselves, to others, and to the life they actually want to live.
“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner."
I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”  Carl R. Rogers

Psychotherapy in St Kilda

Awaken Insights Approach is relational, body-aware, and practical. We work through conversation and reflection, while also paying attention to how your body and nervous system respond to stress, relationships, and life events. Those responses aren’t “broken”, they’re often learned protections that once helped you cope. Together, my approach helps you to build new ways to develop, without the fluff!
We also explore your different inner parts, the sides of you that think, feel, and react in different ways (for example: the high-achiever, the critic, the avoider, the protector). When these parts run in the background, they can drive your emotions and relationships without you realising. Bringing them into awareness helps you respond with more clarity, choice, and self-compassion, instead of feeling hijacked.
This is a neuro-affirming practice. Sessions are adapted to you: your pace, your communication style, your sensory needs, and what feels safe. There’s no pressure to perform, “do therapy right,” or mask.
Individual Psychotherapy
For your ongoing growth, not a quick fix.
This is about understanding your patterns, emotions, and inner world, and developing new ways of relating to yourself and others over time. The goal isn’t a perfect endpoint, it’s more self-connection, flexibility, and agency in everyday life.
Self development, without the fluff!
Couples Psychotherapy
For partners who want a stronger, more secure connection.
We focus on relational intimacy: being able to stay present with your own feelings and boundaries while staying connected to each other. The work builds emotional attunement, curiosity, and shared understanding, so you can move beyond avoiding conflict and learn how to handle challenges as a team.
I provide couples counselling that is inclusive of:
  • Trauma informed care
  • 🌈 LGBTQIA+ couples and relationships
  • Neurodivergent–neurodivergent and neurodivergent–neurotypical partnerships
  • Non-monogamous and diverse relationship structures
Deeper connection starts here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral or Mental Health Care Plan?
No referral required as counsellors do not work under the Mental Health Care Plan scheme.
Who is individual therapy for?
Adults and teens who are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, emotionally stuck, or navigating change. You don’t need a diagnosis or a crisis to benefit from therapy.
What do people usually come to therapy for?
Anxiety, stress, burnout, emotional regulation, relationship patterns, neurodivergence, identity questions, parenting challenges, life transitions, or a sense of feeling disconnected from Self.
What happens in a typical session?
We may talk, reflect, work with emotions, notice what’s happening in your body, or focus on practical strategies. Some sessions are more reflective, others more structured.
Do I need to prepare or know what to say?
No. You don’t need the right words or goals to start. We begin where you are, and we work it out together.
Is therapy practical or more exploratory?
Both. I offer clear, science-informed tools when helpful, alongside deeper emotional and relational work. We’ll find the balance that suits you.
How long does therapy last?
That depends on your needs. Some people come for short-term support around a specific issue; others choose longer-term therapy for deeper or ongoing work.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes. Therapy is confidential, with the usual ethical and legal limits around safety, which I’ll explain clearly.
How do I know if this is the right fit?
Feeling comfortable, respected, and understood matters. You’re welcome to ask questions before starting, and we’ll check in as we go.
Is your practice LGBTQIA+ affirming?
🌈 Yes. I work affirmatively with LGBTQIA+ individuals and people in queer relationships. Your identity and relationships are respected and centred, and therapy is grounded in inclusive, trauma-informed practice.
