Let me tell you a little about myself and the way I work, as this is really the most important factor in choosing a counsellor that suits you.
What makes me different from mainstream therapists? I like to say that I straddle the mainstream cognitive realm with the more holistic approach. If science and straight talking is your thing, I can do that, at the same time helping you step out of your head and back into your body. If you're more into creativity, symbols, or the esoteric world, I can meet you there and support you as you make meaning and find the grounding you need.
By nature, I'm a flexible and adaptable person, therefore my therapy style tends to be easily shaped around your needs. I don’t put up a façade, I the same person inside the counselling relationship as I am in the ‘real world’.
I believe in ‘planting the flowers as we pull the weeds', it's important to focus on your strengths and the positive aspects of your world as well has the hard stuff. You won’t leave a session having not laughed, even if it’s through your tears.
Counselling is my second career, and I like to say I’ve lived a big and colourful life. As a therapist, I feel that experience in the real world adds much value and depth. In this work we can’t rely on academic achievements alone, though fortunately for you, I have those too.
I began my career in wellbeing and cultural change in 2005 within a leading Australian marketing service agency. The program fostered personal and professional growth for all employees and managing aspects of this program was very much imbedded within my role as wellbeing coordinator and client facing project manager. Working under the mentorship of the business founder and CEO, I was able to explore the benefits of human centred design and psychological frameworks to improve team communication, reduce stress and work in a “one team” culture. This work inspired me to pursue tertiary qualifications in the field of psychology.
What do I specialise in? Over the years, many have asked this question. I’ve somewhat reluctantly confessed that I’m a 'generalist', meaning I see people of all ages, and work with most issues. Though I’ve come to realise that I do specialise.

We are relational beings, therefore disharmony in any of these relationships can manifest as stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, isolation, fear, anger and sadness. We heal and grow through relationship to self and other.
I tend to do my best work with people that are ready to put in the effort and make the changes they know are needed, accepting that it may get harder before it gets easier.
Part of my strong value around authenticity is that I work hard everyday to strengthen my relationships, to continue my personal and professional development and to accept that none of us get it right all of the time.
We are all messy and magnificent.
I hope this has been helpful in determining if I might be the right counsellor (therapist, coach) for you.
